Troops were allowed to wear the beret, instead of the famous Scout hat, as long as it was uniform throughout the Troop.

Sir Charles Maclean (1916 - 1990) named Chief Scout.
Chief Scout of the United Kingdom (1959 - 1971).
Chief Scout of the Commonwealth (1959 - 1975).
1961
20th Sheffield Scouts Golden Jubilee (1911 - 1961).
Celebrations were held 22 – 23 July, with the crowing glory being a Gang Show in October.
The show was in the Parish Hall, produced by an old Rover, Gordon Corke. The group received a congratulatory letter from Ralph Reader (British actor, theatrical producer and songwriter, known for staging the original Gang Show). A stainless steel etched plaque, mounted on wood is made to commemorate the Jubilee.

J G Buckley (“Jim” or “Old Jim” as Tankey always calls him!) becomes Group Scout Leader.

Scout Leader Jeff Keynon and Cub Scout Leader Pat Southall marry with a Guard of Honour provided by the Group at the ceremony.

A new Group is started at St Gabriel’s (290th) with Ecclesall Leader Ian Mckens as lead.

The Group take part in the distribution of leaflets promoting the Nation Blood Transfusion Service.
The Scouts win the District Camping Competition
Seniors win the ‘Bone of Contention’ at table tennis.
The Senior flag is dedicated at the Church.
Three Senior scouts walk the Pennine Way. Can anyone contribute their names?
The Cubs visit Peter Pan on Ice at Manchester.
The Scout Room is repaired and improved by the Group, at a cost of £50.

Rover Leader Syd Shepherd, Scout Leader Jeff Keynon and Cub Leader Pat Keynon move to Birmingham.
1967
The Chief Scout visits the Jubilee gathering at Whitely Wood Hall. A new look for all the Uniforms and section names. 2 Senior Scouts become Venture Scouts as Rovers is closed, and older members join Scout Fellowship.

The Group Golden Jubilee plaque is restored by John Tilsley in July.
One 20th Scout attends the Jubilee Service at Westminster Abbey.
